Benefits Beyond Carbon
Improving soil, preventing erosion and droughts
By planting native forests with mixed species on degraded land in Spain and Portugal, we aim to improve the quality and life of the soil. In addition to reducing erosion in the future and promoting the improvement of their ecosystems to reduce droughts, a fundamental problem for the whole Peninsula.
Building resilient ecosystems and supporting native fauna and flora
By planting resilient forests with tree species adapted to each environment and climate change, we seek to enhance the Peninsula's native fauna, from small endangered fauna such as amphibians and bats, to large emblematic species such as the brown bear.
Benefiting the rural and local community
In Iberia, it is essential that local communities have a sense of ownership over new forests and can enjoy the ecosystem benefits they will bring in the future. To this end, all parties are involved from the very beginning of the project: field visits, environmental education activities, local work, and local nurseries.
